Witnessing for Christ – Our Mission

Witness

The evangelization of the world is the work that God has given to those who go forth in His name. God calls for thousands to work for him, neither by preaching to those who know the truth nor going over and over to the same ground, but by warning those who have lost and have never heard the last message of mercy.

One of the programs of East Visayan Conference of Seventh Day Adventist headed by Pastor Samuel Salloman presented this year 2016, was to utilize the elders of the local churches. With the aim of enhancing and improving their God given ability to speak to the world about God’s love, salvation and grace, the 1st Simultaneous Elder’s Crusade all throughout its territory in Region VIII was scheduled last April 3-16, 2016.

I was privileged to be part of the public evangelism, a humble endeavour, which was conducted in one of the far-flung barangays at Barangay Paghudlan, Burauen, Leyte participated in by the elders from Burauen Area. The speakers for this two-week long public evangelism were the different elders from the local churches in the district. Our program every night was started with the Children’s time wherein the young people taught/shared with the children action songs/verse songs, memory verses, and Bible stories among others. Right after the children’s time was the film showing about “Jesus Life’s Story” for 30 minutes then the program proper followed. It started with the Health lecture first, to let the attendees know God’s original plan for man’s diet and finally, the gospel message. During our program proper, attendees were encouraged to write their queries about the topic delivered. Their queries were answered right after the lecture and in the event that there were lots of questions asked, some would be answered the following night. A house-to-house visitation and a Bible study were also done with the help of the Layman, Bro. Erix Paderan. Every night, God touched the heart of the people and they willingly decided to accept Christ as their personal Saviour.

At the end of the public evangelism, 44 precious souls were brought to the feet of Jesus through baptism conducted by Pastor Jonathan Muralla. A plan, then, to build a church for them in the area was set out since it would be difficult for them to go to the next barangay during Sabbath. To materialize the plan, other brethren donated materials to be used in building the church while others supported financially and through prayers. Through the spirit of bayanihan, the church was built in that area.

Christ’s last words to His disciples were:

“Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.”

“Go to the farthest bounds of the habitable globe, and know that wherever you go My presence will attend you.” (Ev 15.1)

The commission is given to all of us. We are bidden to go forth as Christ’s messengers— to teach, instruct, and persuade men and women that they may have eternal life. And to us God’s labourers, Christ’s assured us of His abiding presence. Whatever difficulties with which we may have to contend, whatever the trials we have to endure, the gracious promise is always ours, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

To end up, let me share with the lyrics of this song:

We are called, we are chosen, we’re commanded to go.

We’ve been given a message the world needs to know

Can your eyes see the mission does your heart hear the call

You’re the one… will you go? Share Him, share him

There’s a story to tell share Him Every tribe every nation is waiting for you

Share the hope share the truth share him

There’s a field with a harvest but the workers are few

Are you ready and willing there’s so much to do

Every heart has a mission please answer the call You’re the one…will you go?
